Takapenga, meaning “We Are Awesome,” performs Zimbabwean-style marimba around Colorado’s front range. This 8-member teen group uses a 7-piece marimba orchestra with hand percussion. They will be playing a lively set at Fresh Thymes on Friday, September 18 at 6 p.m.

The band is part of the nonprofit Kutandara, which provides music classes and community in Zimbabwean-style marimba music.
